What’s The Rush?
Be here now
At the time of this writing, we are amid a global pandemic. Like all things, this too shall pass.
Most are anxiously awaiting the return to pre-pandemic life. Consequently, we might miss the value in this present moment.
The reality is that we assume that whatever comes next will be better than the current, or yet that there is a guaranteed next moment.
Who is to say that there is a next something? The next call from your friend/lover? The sound of your dog barking and waking you up on a Saturday when THIS IS YOUR ONLY DAY TO SLEEP IN…
Unfortunately, we tend to coexist with an unchecked entitlement of a guaranteed tomorrow. In a world of clicks, buzzes and notifications were merely debris in a riptide. Sleepwalking through a galactic sneeze.
Each day forward is a step closer to the last of something.
For instance, say your parents are at the end of their lifetime. Maybe they have 10 years left? You’re away in another state. You maybe get the opportunity to visit them on holidays and special occasions.
Say 4 times a year.
4 x 10 = 40
What was 10 years with your parents is boiled down to 40 moments.
Let’s do our best to remember the names of those we shake hands and break bread with. Become accepting and a friend to the person in the mirror.
There is no tomorrow live for now.
